2022 RHP Summer Scholars

Savannah Dowdy

Savannah is a senior at Appalachian State University, and will be graduating this fall with her BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. When she is not reading, Savannah enjoys listening to True Crime podcasts, watching movies, and spending time with her friends and family.

Huang Chen

Huang Chen was raised in China and came to America during high school. She received a B.F.A. in Economics from Clark University. Since then, Huang has spent over three years working in a local high school as a paraprofessional. She’s currently pursuing an M.L.A. in creative writing from Harvard Extension school. Currently, Huang is working on her first middle-grade fantasy novel and is fascinated by the process of how a story becomes a printed book! She’s a cat person who’s allergic to cats and an amateur actress who can’t cry. Her most recent favorite author is Kate DiCamillo.

Jess Weer

Jess Weer is a Creative Writing and Literature graduate degree candidate at Harvard Extension School. Her favorite genre is literary fiction, though she enjoys many different genres. When she isn’t reading or writing, Jess can often be found in the kitchen baking croissants from scratch.

Laramie Graber

Laramie Graber graduated from Wesleyan University with honors in English in 2020. He currently lives in Durham, North Carolina, writing and reading as much as possible with a soft spot for speculative fiction and any story about finding a better world for yourself and others. He hopes to help stories like these in publishing.

Nicole Arch

Nicole Arch is a graduating senior at UNC Chapel Hill.  While pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree, she also majored in English and Comparative Literature with a concentration in Writing, Editing, and Digital Publishing, and she minored in Creative Writing with an honors thesis in Fiction Writing.  After receiving her degree this May, she is excited to start exploring career options in publishing, and hopes to continue cultivating her love of literature.  Her current favorite authors are Jane Austen and Robert Penn Warren.

Bailey Williamson

Bailey Williamson is from Rowland, North Carolina, and is a rising senior at UNC Chapel Hill. She is majoring in English and Comparative Literature with a concentration in Creating Writing and minoring in American Indian and Indigenous Studies. She enjoys reading Christian fiction novels and writing Christian fiction as well. She plans to potentially move to Dallas, Texas after graduation and work in publishing.
