Alicia Gilmore

Regal author Alicia Gilmore
Alicia Gilmore

Alicia Gilmore lives in New South Wales, Australia, and has recently completed Path to the Night Sea, a contemporary gothic novel exploring the dark secrets hidden within an otherwise idyllic coastal setting. Alicia has had short stories published in Phoenix and Cellar Door. In 2012, she was one of the contributing writers and lead editor of Burbangana, a publication showcasing the achievements of Aboriginal students in the Sydney Region.

In 2009, Alicia received an Allen & Unwin / Varuna Publishers Fellowship that included a residency at Varuna, the NSW Writers’ Centre. In 2010, she was awarded a month long residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Ireland, where she was able to indulge her passions for writing, travel, art, photography, and discovered a new passion for wholesome Irish cooking. And Butler’s chocolate. All chocolate, actually…

As a writer and educator, Alicia holds degrees in Visual Arts, Creative Writing and Education. Alicia works as a writer and educator and has taught in a variety of schools within New South Wales and Canada. She shares her love of literature and commitment to encouraging creativity in others with her students and colleagues, believing that everyday life can surprise all of us, and everyone has stories within them.

Her writing has been disrupted by the recent arrival of a kitten who finds the sounds of fingers tapping on a keyboard and the movement of a mouse irresistible.

Alicia is currently working on a historical fiction novel based on the experiences of Dagmar Berne, Australia’s first female medical student, and the opposition and challenges she faced as a young woman defying the social mores of Sydney in the late 19th century.

Regal House Publishing is delighted to present Path to the Night Sea.
