I grew up in a sailing family on Lake Erie. No matter where I am, I am never that far from the memory of that world. My poetry and fiction nearly always circle back to elemental forces I was first exposed to as a child. When nothing else makes sense to me, I go find a boat or look at the water or listen to it or jump in. The Last Tale of Norah Bow, my second novel, springs from that early world that continues to feed me. Over the last fifty years, I’ve published essays, articles, fiction, reviews, interviews and poetry in many places including The Nation, The New Republic, The Gettysburg Review, Agni Review, Catamaran, APR, Salamander, Catamaran, North American Review, Shenandoah, The Georgia Review, Southern Review, The Massachusetts Review, Water-Stone, The New York Times, Willow Springs, Crazyhorse, and Poetry (Chicago). I am the author of five books of poems, a novel, Every Boat Turns South, www.jpwhitebooks.net. I am also the editor-at-large for Plant-Human Quarterly, an online journal that gives voice to the botanical world.
Regal House Publishing is delighted to bring you The Last Tale of Norah Bow in the summer of 2024.
