Marcia was born and raised in New England and still lives there today. Although she loves to travel, she finds it hard to imagine living anywhere else but within a short distance to the ocean. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Northeastern University and then worked for seven years in textbook publishing.
More currently, Marcia is a certified paralibrarian and has worked at a public library for the past twelve years where she selects new books for their children’s collection, catalogs all items into an online system, and best of all, gets to interact with library patrons at the circulation and reference desks.
Along with many magazine and anthology contributions, Marcia is the author of several novels for children: Call Me Amy, chosen for Bank Street College of Education’s Best Books of the Year and shortlisted for the SCBWI Crystal Kite Award, along with its sequel: Amy’s Choice, both published by Luminis Books. She is excited to add Roller Boy, forthcoming from Fitzroy Books of Regal House Publishing, to her list of novels for tween readers.
Marcia’s other interests include all things family (proud mom of a musicologist and an actuary), as well as art, music, history, theater, travel, and listening to audio books. You can join her in these interests at her blog: www.marciastrykowski.com
