2022 Petrichor Prize Winner
Megan Staffel splits her time between Brooklyn, New York and a farm in western New York State. The Causative Factor will be her third novel, sixth book of fiction. Her previous work includes two collections of short fiction published by Four Way Books, The Exit Coach and Lessons in Another Language and the novels, The Notebook of Lost Things (Soho Press) and She Wanted Something Else (North Point Press). She has a story forthcoming in the December ’22 New England Review and other stories have been published in Ploughshares, the Seattle Review, Northwest Review, The Common, Gargoyle and other journals. She has taught in the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers for many years and contributed essays on the craft of fiction to two anthologies: A Kite in the Wind: Fiction Writers on their Craft and Letters to a Fiction Writer. She keeps a blog on her website, www.meganstaffel.com, where she discusses the novels and stories that inspire her as a reader and writer.
