Susan grew up believing she could fly. When she was six, her mother saved her from launching off the roof of their childhood home with only newspaper wings held together with coat hangers and tape. Her dreams of flying never left. She spent her teen years on the stage singing, dancing, and acting. Now, instead of the stage, she throws characterization into writing about the human condition. Susan took up the pen in her teens, at first, writing elementary songs and poetry. Later, after being sidetracked in corporate America, Susan started writing longer work going from short fiction to novels, many of which focus on the grittier side of humanity.
Susan Wingate was born under the Year of the Dog and under the Sun sign of Leo. She’s an Amazon bestseller and award-winning author of Storm Season, The Deer Effect, the Bobby’s Diner series, and Drowning. Her latest book The Dementia Chronicles is a memoir about the time she spent as primary caregiver to her dying mother. When Susan isn’t writing, you can find her out tramping through the woods chasing deer.
Susan lives in Friday Harbor, Washington with her husband, Bob.
