Tara serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff to California State Senator Dave Cortese. She previously served as Chief of Staff and Policy and Outreach Director for Cortese on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. She is a graduate of Mills College and has worked as a Campaign and Legislative Staffer for several Candidates and Elected Officials. Her community work includes serving on the Friends of Deer Hollow Farm Board of Directors, the Silicon Valley Clean Energy Customer Advisory Group, and the Bay Area for Clean Environment Board of Directors. Tara is the Co-Founder of the nonprofit Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action that organizes workshops, summits, and local cohorts to mentor students to combat climate change in their local jurisdiction through education and public policy initiatives.
