
Saige England is a New Zealand author and poet living between the sea and estuary in the village of Te Kōrero Karoro (New Brighton). She’s lived and written in other landing places including Paris, England, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Islands.
Saige graduated with an MA in Creative Writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters (IIML) at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University. She also holds qualifications in counselling, and in teaching English and History.
Saige has won numerous awards, scholarships and grants for her writing. Her humanitarian journalism has been widely published in New Zealand and overseas, including the Daily Telegraph and the Financial Times.
Her short fiction and poetry have been published in anthologies and international including Penguin Books NZ, Reed Publishing, Turbine, Bravado, Black Mail Press, Shotglass Journal (Muse-Pie Press), and The Rawhead Journal of Art and Literature.
Her debut novel The Seasonwife was first published in New Zealand by Bateman Books in 2023 and was shortlisted for the 2024 New Zealand Booksellers Book Choice Award.
Saige is married with three sons, two cats, two dogs, and a varying number of cheerful chickens.
