Bryan Hurt

Bryan Hurt is the author of the novel Into the Earth With You, the story collection Everyone Wants to Be Ambassador to France, winner of the Starcherone Prize for Innovative Fiction, and the anthology Watchlist: 32 Stories by Persons of Interest, which he edited and has been translated into multiple languages.

He began writing Into the Earth With You with a simple ambition: to write the kind of story he loves to read, one that’s strange, suspenseful, funny, and unafraid to follow an impossible idea wherever it leads. His fiction often explores the point where curiosity becomes obsession, ordinary lives brush against the extraordinary, and humor and mystery coexist.

His recent fiction appears in McSweeney’s Internet Tendency and Works Progress; earlier work has appeared in Guernica, New England Review, Kenyon Review Online, Joyland, and TriQuarterly. His essays and criticism have also appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books, Tin House, Literary Hub, and Electric Literature.

Bryan served as editor in chief of The Arkansas International, which received the Whiting Literary Magazine Prize during his tenure, and as Midwest fiction editor at Joyland. He was a Wolfson Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge, holds a PhD in Literature & Creative Writing from the University of Southern California, and teaches in the MFA Program at the University of Arkansas.

He lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Regal House Publishing is proud to bring you Into the Earth With You in 2028.
